Hello!
Since we had only two days of class last week we are going to be continuing on with this assignment.
your assignment this week will incorporate many of the skills and computer programs that you have been introduced to this year.
YOu will be creating a webpage (weebly) where you will present an educational website. YOu will review and evaluate this website and present your findings in the form of a webpage of your own.
Skills you must perform:
1. Research. You will spend time researching the website that you are assigned so that you know enough about it to present it to others.
2. On your website - create a new standard page and title it Web Review.
3. Create a Voki OR a GoAnimate to introduce the website that you research.
4. Create a Popplet OR a GoAnimate to detail the pros and cons of this website.
5. Create a Wordle using words relevant to your website and add it as the top of the page image.
6. Put a title at the top of the webpage. It should be the name of the website that you researched.
7. Capture several screenshots of the website that you are reviewing and include them on the page. Do this using the Print Screen trick we have been using. Make sure every picture has a caption.
8. Add text and write about the website.
Your job is to review and evaluate this website for others.
You will explain:
what is available there,
how you go about using it,
what is it good for,
who it is for - as in age group or interest,
what is good about it, what is not good about it,
do you have to have a log-in, does it cost money, if it does cost money are there parts you can get to for free? Understand - even websites that require a log-in can be reviewed and evaluated.
what all is there to do, is it appealing,
is there a good selection of things to do, etc.
Someone should be able to visit your webpage and learn all about this website that you are evaluating.
9. Make sure that you are using professional language. If it is not to your liking then say so by explaining what it is that you don't like about it. Telling your audience that it is boring is telling them nothing. The same way - if you think it is fun - explain why you think it is fun. Saying it's fun does not mean much in a review or evaluation since everyone has a different definition of "fun." Being able to communicate through text is a vital skill.
10. These reviews will be gathered as a page of links for teachers in this school to use to find appropriate online resources for their students.
11. BE CAREFUL!
Some sites are FILLED with ads that lead you off the website and to a new place entirely! Some of these ads are INTENTIONALLY trying to lead you off the page and onto their page. Be AWARE. Use the CTRL key when clicking on links. This will open a new window.
